Our story
Every Chhath, Maa’s kitchen smelled of ghee and saunf.
This is how a family recipe became Saanche Ki Mithaas.
Our story
This is how a family recipe became Saanche Ki Mithaas.
Thekua is a sweet from Bihar that women make for Chhath Puja. It is offered as prasad, then shared with family and exchanged with neighbours.
In our home, Maa has always made it the old way: whole-wheat atta and sooji kneaded with pure ghee, a generous pinch of saunf, each piece pressed into a wooden saancha and fried slow until golden.
For years, her thekua quietly became famous. Neighbours waited for it. Papa’s friends and colleagues asked for it by name, every single year.
One Chhath, Papa’s colleague was away in the UK for work. Instead of waiting till next year, he called Papa with one request: please keep some of Maa’s thekua aside until he got back.
That’s when we knew this thekua deserved to travel further than our street.
What we promise
No shortcuts and no “improved” version. The same thekua she makes for her own family.
Atta, sooji, pure ghee and saunf at the heart of every piece, just like at home.
Packed with care and shipped across India, so home is never too far away.
