Why “Saanche Ki Mithaas”?
Named after the little wooden mould
A saancha is the carved wooden mould that gives every thekua its pattern. In Maa’s kitchen it has pressed thousands of them, every Chhath, for family, neighbours and prasad.
Traditional Bihari thekua · made in Siliguri
Pure ghee
Handmade by Maa

The thekua our neighbours ask for by name. Made by Maa, the way it has always been made in Bihar for Chhath: whole-wheat atta and sooji, kneaded with pure ghee, sugar and a generous pinch of saunf, pressed by hand in a wooden saancha and fried slow in pure ghee until deep golden.
Crisp at the edges, a gentle bite in the middle, gently sweet and never cloying. It goes as well with your evening chai as it does in a tiffin, on a long train ride, or in a box for someone far from home.
Net quantity: 300 g per pack. Choose 1, 2 or 3 packs: bigger boxes, better value. Full ingredients, allergens and label details are under “Product information”.

Crisp edges, a gentle bite in the middle, and a mellow sweetness with a hint of saunf. Lovely with chai.
Keep it in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, away from moisture, so it stays crisp.

Good to know
Thekua is a traditional sweet from Bihar, made for Chhath Puja. It is offered as prasad and then shared with family and neighbours. Think of a crisp, rustic, ghee-rich biscuit with a pattern pressed into it by a wooden saancha.
Whole-wheat atta and sooji (semolina), kneaded with pure ghee, sugar and a generous pinch of saunf (fennel seeds), then fried slow in pure ghee, the way Maa has always made it. The full ingredients list, allergens and nutrition are on the product page.
